Aim: Ingrowing toe nail is a frequent disorder that cause repetetive chain of events like foreign body reaction, infection and inflammation. Many surgical and medical treatment modalities are described. Especially, the treatment of ingrowing toe nail has some specialities for patients who use coumadin because of systemic disorders. During follow up period, International normalized ratio (INR) regulation is required in these patients. In this study the patients who use coumadin and who have ingrowing toe nail are treated with oniko-2®(Turkey) nail loosener and their results with patient satisfaction are evaluated. Material and Method: Between September 2010 and June 2011 eight patients who used coumadin and who had ingrowing toe nail included in this study. According to the Heifetz's staging system six patients were stage 2 and two patients were stage 3. Oniko-2®(Turkey) is inserted without any anesthetic prosedure. The recurrence of ingrowing toe nail and the toe status were examined. Patient satisfaction and pain levels asked to the patients. Results: The mean follow up period was 11 months. The mean application period of Oniko-2®(Turkey) nail loosener was 28 days. INR regulation was not made before and during treatment. In one patient local infection progressed to cellulitis. It was treated with antibiotics. Ingrowing toe nail of every patient healed and all of them satisfied with treatment. Discussion: Our opinion is that oniko-2® nail loosener can be safely used in ingrowing toe nail in patients who use coumadin because of systemic disorders.
