Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation: Advances in Marine Navigation, ss.131-139, (Tam Metin Bildiri)
Turkey has concentrated its efforts in developing sound projects for economical, safe and environmentally apt transportation of the prominent oil reserves of Iraq Basin markets through the Iraq- Turkey Crude Oil Pipe Line. Turkey as a reliable and stable transit country providing low cost and secure transmission of energy from the Iraq-Turkey Crude Oil Pipe Line Project by benefiting from her geographical advantages. In this study AWESIM simulation modeling program has been used for the BOTAS Ceyhan Marine Terminal of Turkey. This modeling evaluated for 365 days and each ship has approached the port with intervals of 12- 24, 12-36, 24-36 and 24-48 hours. Stormy days in a year have been assumed as 30. Each ship demands tug and pilotage service when approaching and leaving the port. As a result, this research has been done to determine the transportation capacity of the port by evaluating the number of ships approaching the port, the extend of queue of ships waiting for the tug service and space for approaching at the port, the amount of time ships queued by the port. To this end, the minimum and maximum transportation capacity has been spotted. © 2013 Taylor & Francis Group.
