Acute hepatitis such as hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, parvovirus, Ebstein-Barr virus can occur with many viruses. Acute hepatitis due to hepatitis A virus in children is a common, usually self-limiting disease with recovery. Although other viral hepatitis forms occur, with extra hepatic autoimmune findings, acute hepatitis A virus infections are rare. Secondary immune thrombocytopenia is observed frequently in hepatitis B and C infections but, have rarely been reported as a sign of acute hepatitis A infection. Secondary immune thrombocytopenia was the only finding in a subicteric 4 year old girl presenting with acute hepatitis A infection.
