Özet

Nutritional vitamin D deficiency rickets is a mineralization defect of growing bone and is still a public health problem in developing countries. In the sepatients vitamin D deficiency causes in sufficient absorption of calcium and phosphorus. Anemia is frequently observed in rickets patients and iron deficiency is the most common reason. Myelofibrosis can rarely occur in rickets, and this situation also can result in anemia. Megaloblastic anemia develops as a result of defective DNA synthesis. It frequently occurs due to folic acid and vitamin B12 deficiency, and is also an important anemia reason in childhood. Association of rickets related myelofibrosis and vitamin B12 deficiency is rare. In this paper were port a case in whom association of rickets related myelofibrosis and vitamin B12 deficiency was detected during investigation of hepatosplenomegaly and anemia. In conclusion in children with nutritional vitamin D deficiency rickets, vitamin B12 deficiency should also be taken in to account in etiological evaluation of anemia.
